I am a Christian

Yes, regardless of what you may have heard, Mormons, or members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, are very much Christians. Just look at the name of our church. It is the church of Jesus Christ. Some have said, and I don't understand this curious idea, that we do not believe in Christ, or we believe in a different Christ. Well, the Christ I believe in, and all LDS members I know believe in, is the Christ of Bethlehem, born of the virgin Mary, baptized of John the Baptist. He died for my sins and rose on the third day that we all may live and return to our God. We worship Him. Jesus Christ, and no other- not Joseph Smith, not any man or woman. We believe in Christ. The Book of Mormon states, "And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins. " (Second book of Nephi 25: 26). I wish all to understand this seemingly obvious yet often misunderstood fact. I believe in Christ, the Son of God, I love him, I worship him, and I am grateful that he has shared his gospel with us. I am a Christian, a follower of Christ. If you do not believe me, attend one of our meetings on Sunday and see for yourself (Click here for our meetinghouse locater.)

Post one

My name is Lance, and I grew up in the mountains of North Carolina. I attended the methodist church growing up, but did not feel that it was the right church for me. When I was sixteen, I joined the Mormon church, or the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I was baptized in the Atlantic ocean, just after sunrise. I will ever be grateful that I found the church, and came to know Christ. I am almost thirty years old now. I am married, have three children, and have returned to school to get my Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am starting this blog in response to the increase in media attention on the church since Mitt Romney began to run for president. This is not intended to be a Vote for Mitt site, but one in which I can help clarify some misunderstandings that are propagated by the ignorant and malicious. I will refer you to my church's official site, lds.org or mormon.org, for official church information. Knowing that no site can answer all questions, I will endeavor to make this site one for responding to the frequent misunderstandings, as well as answering questions posted on the blog. Please feel free to ask any questions you feel relevant. I ask that you keep your questions respectful and I will try to do the same with my responses. Thank you for your interest in my blog.
